Pool Renovation vs. New Build — What's Right for Your Home?
Published on 28 February 2026

Most pools we're asked to look at sit somewhere between 'dated' and 'failing'. The honest answer to 'renovate or rebuild?' depends on three things: the shell, the position, and the surrounds.
The shell
A structurally sound concrete shell is worth keeping. Interiors, coping and tiles can all be replaced — but if the shell is moving or leaking, you'll spend twice.
The position
If the original pool sits in the wrong place — wrong aspect, wrong relationship to the house — no renovation can fix that. A rebuild is the only way to recover the garden.
