How we approach it
Designed as a room, not a leftover space
We start with how you want to use the space - cooking, long lunches, a quiet corner in the morning - then set the levels, circulation and screening around that. Zones are defined with changes in paving, built-in seating and planting rather than clutter, so a compact courtyard still feels generous.
Built by our own trades
Carpentry, stone masonry, paving, concreting, rendering and lighting are all handled in-house, which keeps the detailing consistent and the program moving. Outdoor kitchens are built with weather-appropriate joinery, stone benchtops and integrated appliances, and services are roughed in early so nothing is retro-fitted.
It has to work at night
Lighting is designed as part of the build, not added at the end - uplights on screens and feature trees, step and deck lighting for safety, and separate circuits so you can set the mood without lighting the whole yard.

Common questions
- How long does an outdoor entertaining area take to build?
- Most courtyard and alfresco projects run a few weeks to a few months on site depending on scope, access and whether structures or drainage are involved. We give you an indicative program with your quote and keep you updated as the build progresses.
- Do I need council approval?
- Some work is exempt and some needs approval - it depends on your council, structure heights, boundary setbacks and heritage controls. We'll tell you early what applies to your site and can prepare the documentation if approval is required.
- Can you work with my architect or interior designer?
- Yes. We regularly work alongside architects, builders and interior designers so the outdoor materials, levels and lighting tie back to the house.
- Do you handle the outdoor kitchen appliances and services?
- We coordinate the joinery, stonework, plumbing and electrical rough-in, and install integrated appliances such as BBQs, sinks and fridges as part of the build.
