Woollahra's Paddington Heritage Conservation Area applies to almost every street. Rear-yard renovations typically proceed as Complying Development; anything visible from the street (front fences, painting, new windows) requires a DA. Plunge pools always require a DA.

Can you renovate a Paddington rear yard with no side access?
Yes — most of our Paddington work has zero side access. Materials come through the house on protection boards; excavated spoil goes out the same way. It changes the schedule slightly but it's routine.
Is a plunge pool worth it in a terrace?
For most of our clients it's the highest-return renovation they do — you're adding a functional entertaining feature, and the resale premium on a well-designed Paddington plunge pool is significant.
